Serious Training for Endurance Athletes: One of the best books on breaking down the training year.

Blog # 1: April 22, 2020
Hello, everyone I would like to start by saying thank you to all our front line workers.
As we cannot live fire at this time it means, we can work on our breathing and mental visualization skills.
Prep for the season, over the next weeks:
With a rifle or without a rifle you can still train for Biathlon. For example, visualize coming into the range, which should including deep breathing and thinking about the wind. You could use a photo of the target or just imagine the target and think about yourself shooting and knocking down all five targets.
If you have a rifle, I would like us to start with 5 to 10 minutes of breathing and visualization before you start dry firing.
Normally the training season starts May 1. We will still be starting just a bit different. With the tools, we learn during our time at home can be even better shooters and just as important have some fun during this time.
We can still go for a run, roller ski, bike ride, and work on our strength and conditioning. Please note if you go out training moving faster we need to be 10 meters apart to stay safe. Make sure your roller skis are safe and you are safe with gloves, safety vest, and gloves as a minimum.
For the fun part, I would like us as a team to start posting funny things that happen while training and being safe on our VIBC Facebook site. I am going to post a photo of some of a roller ski wheel from last year. With my story of Whistler roller ski track.
With this time at home, I hope you have reflect on last season. Now is the time to think about your goals for next season. Given the situation, we find ourselves in, start with short-term goals and think being flexible and we can always make more goals as we train and achieve them.
Take care, Glenn
